Do you know what Tsogo Sun, City Lodge, Wakefields Property Management, Virgin Active, and scores of other premium properties have in common? Nothing on the surface, but dig a little deeper and you’ll find that the surfaces of their buildings are coated with Plascon products.

For large construction, maintenance and renovation projects, property portfolios have the opportunity to partner with Plascon and Plascon Preferred Applicators to benefit from the Plascon 360° Partnership Pledge. “With these projects, we are involved from inception to completion, making sure the right coating system is specified according to the environment and condition of the building substrates,” explains Plascon Professional Market Manager, Carol Ras.

And it’s no light commitment on the part of the leading coatings brand. Plascon will even assist in choosing the correct hues for a building, to make sure that the colour comes out just right. “Colour renderings, wet samples and A4 brushouts can be arranged to make the final colour selection easier,” says Ras.

So instead of leaving you to fend for yourself after you’ve made a coatings purchase, Plascon’s industry experts partner with you at every stage of the project, offering a range of added-value services that are designed to ensure peace of mind and the best return on investment. As part of the Plascon 360° Partnership Pledge, Plascon representatives pay regular visits to your building site to track progress and workmanship on site and provide comprehensive reports along the way.

This is important in helping to avoid potential pitfalls. Creating a reference area for observation is part of this process. Part of the initial assessment for paint projects will involve sampling a reference area as a benchmark for the project. Environmental variables taken into account include moisture content, surface preparation, temperature readings and film thickness.

“A reference area is the benchmark for coating of the building. It is identified as the most exposed façade or area on a building and is monitored and documented by a Plascon representative, taking into account wet film thickness of primer, intermediate and topcoats. Should there be failure or concerns later on, this area will be the first point of reference,” explains Ras.

Part of Plascon’s 360° Partnership Pledge is guaranteeing both the paint project and the workmanship of Plascon’s Preferred Applicators. To qualify as a Plascon Preferred Applicator, each contractor must have worked on at least three supervised projects. Plascon undertakes to conduct site visits as part of its joint supervision programme. These site visits will be used to assess paint progress and comprehensive progress reports will be compiled for the client’s benefit. Final site inspections with the contractor and consultant involved take place before the building is signed off and the guarantee is given.

A Plascon professional will be on hand when compiling the snag list and final site inspection. This joint supervision relationship will ensure the project is awarded a Kansai Plascon quality assurance guarantee covering both product and application. An optional annual maintenance programme for the specified coatings’ life cycle is available.

“While we can’t guarantee good weather or that your latest investment will grow, we can guarantee that our Plascon 360° Partnership Pledge will improve your coating’s life cycle expectancy and save you money in the long run,” states Ras.

There’s an incredible level of support and assurance involved, giving both the contractor and property owner peace of mind. And yes, as you will already have gathered, it is a service that is geared towards property professionals and substantial projects. To take advantage of the benefits of the Plascon 360° Partnership Pledge, the value of the paint purchase needs to exceed R200 000 in total and the contractor needs to be a Plascon Preferred Applicator. Plascon also offers on-site training for applicators as required on projects above R100 000 in paint value.
