Presentation title:  Smart Estate Management: Integrating Innovation, ESG, and Resilience for Future Communities
This discussion explores the integration of Smart City innovations, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, and Resilience Engineering principles into estate management. It examines how these elements enhance operational efficiency, sustainability, and liveability in residential estates. Using Clara Anna Fontein as case study.

Zerlinda Van Der Merwe
Zerlinda graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with her BA LLB LLM (Cum Laude) degrees, with her LLM thesis specifically focused on the Constitutionality of Sectional Title Rules. Zerlinda joined Pam Golding Property Management Services as a Managing Agent, and following this practical experience, she completed her articles with Marina Constas at BBM Attorneys, followed by her appointment as a Specialist Community Schemes Consultant with Professor Graham Paddock at Paddocks, where she assisted in the training of the estate agents under the then EAAB and the initial CSOS team. Zerlinda then went back to her roots as General Manager of PGPMS, before she co-founded TVDM Consultants, a specialist community schemes legal consultancy.

Alistair John Collier
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles continue to influence residential communities across South Africa. Alistair John Collier will discuss practical ESG initiatives for both golf and non-golfing estates, sustainability best practices, and provide an update on the prestigious Annual John Collier Award for ESG and Sustainability Excellence.
