Amber Valley is a spacious village designed predominantly with retired folk in mind. The village offers a multitude of facilities, excellent security, whilst maintaining an open flowing aspect to their designs, and the best of care you may require in one’s later years.
Amber Valley prides itself on its substantial open areas, which allow for large game, like zebra, to roam freely amongst the houses. Game walks are also encouraged with a substantial wilderness area for walks, including picnic spots, all within the bounds of the securely fenced village. Without the need for internal fences, all game is free to move and graze along the many watercourses that twist and flow through the village. The Eco focus of Amber Valley encourages a harmonious lifestyle within a largely natural environment.
Amber Valley Retirement Village is special. Set in the beautiful midlands of KwaZulu-Natal just five minutes out of Howick with its hospital, supermarkets and fine restaurants, it is within easy reach of Pietermaritzburg, Durban and the Drakensberg.
Just under 800 units nestle into hills and ponds, with plenty of space left for our resident wild life. The units range from cosy bedsitters to large houses with three bedrooms, study and sunroom. Each unit has room for a private garden.
The estate is spacious – our boundary is 15km long. There are lovely walks, with fishing for bass and trout. Thus far we have listed 213 bird species. On your walks you will meet our zebra, buck and warthogs who share our estate. If you’re lucky perhaps you will spot otters or porcupines.
Your security is paramount: the estate is guarded day and night, with electric fences and controlled gate access. We share our wonderful facilities with neighbouring Amber Ridge and Amber Lakes. There are tennis courts, bowling greens, a heated Olympic size pool and smaller heated pool for aquacising. We have a 300-seater concert hall and a number of function rooms. We have regular concerts with well-known classical and popular musicians. We show the very latest films as well as golden oldies. There are innumerable clubs serving every interest. Lunch is served daily for those who want it in our Dining Room, or it can be delivered to your door. Our pub is open for evening functions.
The 90-bed Care Centre includes a day clinic and respite rooms. The Care Centre is for the benefit of Amber Valley residents. There is a clinic, and a resident ambulance should you need to be taken to hospital
