Our Heritage
Forming a natural crossing point (or drift) of the Crocodile River, Muldersdrift with its narrow width and stable riverbed, offered a reasonably safe and level crossing point for wagons, horses and oxen, thus becoming the main route between Pretoria, Krugersdorp, Rustenburg and Potchefstroom.The first recorded farms in the district date back to the 1830’s. In 1997 brothers Darin and Trevor D’Oliveira had the vision of developing the Avianto Hotel. At the time, they identified the Muldersdrift precinct as the ideal location for a secure lifestyle estate.
Looking at the old run-down farms, the brothers identified that the area had enormous potential and that the land needed to be brought back to life. Over the following 24 years, Darin bought 300 hectares of land to create their vision of the greater Avianto Estate. The concept was to create various private security estates by melding them within the overall greater Avianto Estate, residents all enjoy easy access to the many independent commercial and retail offerings afforded to them.
