Not just another app – My Estate Life App

Every company, school, even appliance seems to have its own app now.

There is an app for the fridge, another for the geyser and one for the pool pump. Most are opened once, forgotten, and left sitting in a folder on page four of the home screen. An estate app has to survive the same test. It may be downloaded because the estate asks residents to use it, but that only gets it onto the phone. Whether it stays useful depends on what happens next.

That has always been the thinking behind My Estate Life: build an app that residents want to open, and in turn estate administration becomes easier. The real measure of this is not the length of an estate app’s feature list. It is whether a resident can invite a visitor in seconds while standing in a queue at Woolworths. With My Estate Life, that is not a box tick; it’s the design ethos.

Built for residents, because that helps management

Community management software can feel as if it is bought by managers to be endured by residents. My Estate Life started from the opposite position. The resident is the primary user in focus, because every task completed easily is one less task on a manager’s desk.

Residents register themselves and join their estate using a Property ID. Once approved, they manage their profile, vehicles, visitors, staff, family and pets. The information stays current because the person who knows it best is responsible for it.

It could be time to throw out the spreadsheets! Each estate operates in its own database, and My Estate Life has a strict no-advertising policy. Your data is your data, as it should be.

Software that works with what is already there

Every gated community has access-control hardware, and in most cases it’s not integrated with the community management system. There are turnkey offerings out there, but estates risk putting all their eggs in one basket. My Estate Life does not manufacture access-control equipment, so there is no incentive to replace hardware that already works. We integrate with it instead, supercharging what you already have on site.

Integration allows My Estate Life to operate as the data accuracy manager. Imagine a resident enrolling on one app, and the profile is created on the systems it needs to be. Imagine a domestic worker schedule controlled in the resident app, with time-and-attendance alerts,

reports, and control. Or a resident enrolling their face from the comfort of their home, instead of driving into the office, without losing any of the authentication processes needed.

It’s fast!

My Estate Life, uniquely, built and controls the full technology stack. That ownership is a large part of why the system is so fast: from cold start to inviting a visitor in three seconds. That must be some kind of record! Probably.

Unique methods of visitor verification with our in-house process allow us to reduce exit processing speed by up to 50% versus traditional methods.

And speed does not end in the app. My Estate Life takes on over 150 estates a year, moving between 500 and 1,000 residents every day!

The problem with communication

Tired of the WhatsApp group noise? We are too; that’s why My Estate Life provides a more deliberate alternative. Direct push messages, rich editor emails, news and ticket conversations give residents a private line to and from management.

Ultimately, at My Estate Life, the goal is not to have the longest list of features. It is to build the best version of the features an estate actually needs, and make them simple enough that residents love using them.

If you haven’t met us yet, we are My Estate Life, the #1 resident management and visitor management app in South Africa, and we believe that with our app, it’s:

Less admin. Happier residents.
