Three farms on the slopes of Wellington’s Groenberg are on the auctioneer’s block in June, offering new owners the chance at a sophisticated Cape Winelands lifestyle.

The Talana Hill, Dunedin, and Eventide farms – all zoned for agricultural use – are being sold individually or as a package by Broll Auctions and Sales for investors or agricultural specialists seeking a countryside lifestyle within an hour’s drive of Cape Town.

Talana Hill, with breathtaking, uninterrupted views of Table Mountain in the distance, produces grapes which have been used in the making of award-winning wines. Current varieties include Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The 25.5ha farm hosts a historic homestead with two beautiful cottages.

“The possibilities for this farm are plenty, with one idea being for a new farmer to introduce its own winery and cellar, or combine it with the neighbouring Dunedin to make an estate with premium quality vineyards,” said Broll Auctions and Sales’ broker Matthew Counsell.

Dunedin does not only offer quality vineyards and ample fallow land, which are fed by two dams, but also offers equestrian facilities with a full dressage arena and stables. The 31.8ha farm has a three-bedroom homestead and two cottages that provide both comfort and privacy which make it ideal for family living.

Eventide, measuring 24.6ha has extensive fallow land providing an opportunity for cultivation tailored to the new owner’s vision. Two well-maintained dams enhance this property’s agricultural potential. The main residence at Eventide is a captivating Cape Dutch homestead, established in 1945. Eventide’s homestead is distinguished by beautifully designed structures, an expansive, mature garden and paved areas, which create a harmonious blend of comfort and elegance.

“These properties offer the right buyer a chance to have a slice of rural bliss and develop their own haven, whether as a lifestyle purchase or as a commercial agricultural business,” Counsell said.

The three farms will be sold as separate lots in a multi-asset auction on June 18, 2025 at The Wanderers Golf Club in Johannesburg at 12pm.
