Openserve, the Telkom Group’s redesigned wholesale division, is South Africa’s largest telecommunications infrastructure provider with the biggest fixed broadband network in the country.

As South Africa’s National connectivity leader, Openserve, is the Infrastructure Provider to most corporates, businesses and Government. This infrastructure provider connects South Africa to each of its neighbouring countries with robust dual terrestrial fibre routes. Geared to meet the demands of South Africa, SADC and Sub Saharan Africa, Openserve also operates a fully redundant submarine fibre ring around the African continent.

In the fibre deployment space this operator’s depth of skills and expertise remains unmatched in South Africa. This is due to its extensive experience in building, operating, monitoring and maintaining optic fibre networks for the last forty years.

The Openserve Fibre Network is the largest fibre footprint in South Africa. In 2015, as the already well-established local leader in the Fibre to The Curb space, Openserve entered the Fibre To The Home (FTTH) market. Its FTTH footprint has steadily grown since and is ever expanding as this access medium enjoys prominence in the Operator’s business strategy.

Openserve Fibre Broadband (OFB), the Infrastructure Provider’s connectivity product, is provisioned on an open access basis to more than a hundred FTTH retailers, including the retail arm of the Telkom Group. The current maximum speed offered is 200Mbps, but the technology deployed is future-proof and will enable higher speed offerings when the market demand changes.

Openserve lays claim to the highest number of premises passed with fibre as well as the Infrastructure Provider that has connected the most Fibre to the home customers in South Africa. The open access model allows consumers freedom of choice when deciding on a preferred Internet Service Provider.

The extensive and growing FTTH coverage is deployed in all nine of South Africa’s provinces. All major metros and selected areas in smaller cities and towns are covered. Openserve strategically rolls out its fibre footprint with the intent to avail FTTH connectivity to more South African homes by covering larger areas with fibre. Openserve makes use of state of the art technology that is supported by highly trained and equipped technicians augmented by original equipment manufacturers and service providers in all major and minor centres. Specialist knowledge is available across the organisation at all levels. The network is monitored by a state of the art National Network Operation Centre with full fault detection capability, for better and quicker assurance. Technicians are seamlessly dispatched to customers or to network failures via the latest dispatch technology.

Openserve develops and wholesales products that are used by resellers to build innovative products for the consumer market. Continuous review of speeds and pricing is the mechanism used to stimulate competition in the sector, lower the barrier of entry to higher speed broadband offerings and to stimulate growth of the various Licensed Operators it provisions for. Openserve partners with South Africa’s leading ISPs that work hard to ensure that you can access a superior fibre connection at an affordable price.

Openserve invites you to open your world to a more connected life. When choosing fibre, choose SA’s Best Fixed Broadband Provider for two years running*. Choose Openserve.
