Zambezi Country Estate is an upmarket Residential Security Estate, located in Montana, a Northern suburb of Pretoria. It is located between Sefako Makgatho Drive and Bougainvillea Drive.
The Estate is close to schools, clinics, hospitals, shopping malls and has easy access to the N1 and N4 highways. Kolonnade Shopping Centre is within walking distance and Wonderboom Airport only 9.3km further away / from the Estate.
The Estate was developed by ABSA DEVCO (Absa Development Company Holdings (Pty) Ltd. and has become one of the most sought-after prestigious estates in Pretoria since the first phase was launched in 2005. The beautifully designed, 122.5-ha Estate consists of spectacular common/green areas and 719 stands of which 618 is fully developed. The 24.5 hectares of common/green areas include several gardens, five play parks, walkways, six dams, a sport field and a tennis court.
The Estate is flat with numerous drainage channels running through it. The wide flood lines of drainage channels have dictated the form of the open spaces and an opportunity was seen to create engineered wetlands on the saturated clay soils. A complex system of weirs and flood attenuation ponds has been designed to contain the stormwater runoff in off-stream ponds which are covered with riverine-associated vegetation, giving rise to habitats for amphibians, birds and small wildlife. The ecosystem of the wetland on the Estate is linked with the adjacent Twee Riviere Wetland that borders with the Estate at Bougainvillea Drive.
A system of walkways as well as a bird-hide has been created for residents to be in close contact with the wetland system.
