As another year draws to a close, there is something particularly appealing about stepping away from the rush of everyday life and choosing to end it differently — with time to restore, reconnect and perhaps enter the new year feeling better than when you arrived.

At Chiva-Som Hua Hin, Thailand’s pioneering wellness destination, the final months of 2026 bring together holistic wellbeing, Thai traditions and festive celebrations in a programme designed around one simple idea: grounding.

From October through December, Chiva-Som turns its attention to Earth, the final of the Four Elements in Thai Traditional Medicine. Associated with strength, stability, posture and resilience, Earth feels particularly fitting for this time of year — a chance to slow down, take stock and create a stronger foundation for what comes next.

Ancient wisdom for modern wellbeing

Thai Traditional Medicine has complemented Chiva-Som’s holistic approach for more than three decades. At its heart is the belief that wellbeing comes from harmony between body, mind and environment, while recognising our connection to nature and its changing rhythms.

Throughout the final quarter of the year, guests can explore this philosophy through a complimentary programme of movement, mindfulness and restorative experiences.

There are Tibetan Bowls Sound Baths designed to quieten the mind and release tension, sessions exploring Thai wisdom and the Four Elements, and Earth Energy Embrace, which looks at how grounding practices can support strength and vitality as we age.

Physical wellbeing receives equal attention. Lumbopelvic Rhythm Exercise focuses on the relationship between the lower spine and pelvis to support posture, mobility and muscular endurance, while November’s Joint Retraining classes combine balance and proprioceptive exercises to encourage safer and more confident movement.

The programme also reaches beyond physical health. To mark World Mental Health Day, Chiva-Som’s Mental Health & Wellness Specialist explores how greater awareness of our habitual patterns can help us create more supportive routines. For World Food Day, the focus shifts away from calorie counting towards something far more valuable: understanding nourishment and the role food plays in sustained energy and long-term health.

It is an approach that reflects what Chiva-Som has always done particularly well — treating wellbeing not as one isolated element of life, but as the relationship between how we move, eat, think, rest and live.

A special yoga residency

From 7–9 November, internationally certified yoga instructor Adrienne Everett joins Chiva-Som for a series of special classes.

Her programme moves between strength and restoration, from the full-body resistance work of Power Sculpt and her signature Adrienne Method, to restorative Yoga Stretch and a grounding Slow Vinyasa Flow.

Whether guests are experienced practitioners or relatively new to yoga, the sessions are designed to meet them where they are — building strength, mobility and focus while creating space to reconnect with themselves.

Wellness meets Thai tradition

A stay at Chiva-Som towards the end of the year isn’t only about retreating from the world. It is also an opportunity to experience some of Thailand’s most meaningful traditions.

On 24 November, the resort celebrates Loy Krathong, one of Thailand’s most beautiful festivals.

Meaning “to float a basket”, the tradition sees intricately crafted Krathongs floated on water as a symbolic gesture of gratitude, renewal and letting go.

At Chiva-Som, the day unfolds through a celebration of Thailand’s four regions, with a Krathong competition, traditional parade, Long Drum Dance, Thai music and classical dance performances. The evening culminates with guests gathering around the water to float the handcrafted Krathongs — a simple but meaningful ritual that feels especially appropriate as the year nears its end.

A different kind of festive season

December brings a gentler interpretation of the traditional festive season.

Christmas Eve is celebrated with a BBQ dinner at Taste of Siam, accompanied by live piano music and Christmas carols sung by local children. Christmas Day follows with a relaxed brunch and live acoustic music.

For New Year’s Eve, Chiva-Som embraces its Thai heritage with “Where Culture Comes to Life: An Evening of Thai Heritage.”

Guests are invited to incorporate elements of contemporary Thai style into their evening attire before gathering for cocktails and a poolside New Year’s Eve dinner. Live music, a DJ and performances ranging from traditional Thai drumming and dance to martial arts bring the country’s culture to life as midnight approaches.

And perhaps most fittingly for a wellness destination, the first morning of 2027 begins not with noise, but with ritual.

On New Year’s Day, guests can take part in traditional Alms Giving at Chiva-Som’s Tai Chi Pavilion — an opportunity to begin the year with gratitude and intention before breakfast and brunch.

The perfect season for Hua Hin

The final months of the year are also one of the loveliest times to experience Hua Hin. Cooler temperatures make outdoor movement more inviting, while Chiva-Som’s beachfront setting creates a natural rhythm between structured wellness and restorative time beside the sea.

For guests staying five nights or longer during October, November or December, Chiva-Som is offering complimentary round-trip airport transfers. During October, guests staying six nights or more in selected Ocean Room and Thai Pavilion categories will also receive a THB 1,000++ wellness credit per person, per night.

For anyone craving more than another busy festive season, Chiva-Som offers an appealing alternative: space to celebrate, certainly, but also space to restore. Because perhaps the greatest luxury at the end of a year isn’t simply getting away. It’s returning home feeling ready for the next one.
