Last week, homeowners gathered to celebrate its first birthday, and what better way to mark the occasion than with good company, great music, delicious treats and a little bubbly?
As the sun set over the Outeniqua Mountains, it was clear that this was about more than celebrating a building. It was about celebrating the people who made it possible, and the community that has made it come alive. Kingswood homeowners certainly showed up for the occasion, filling the centre with laughter, conversation, dancing, and plenty of good cheer.
With music by Suzi Leigh and Glynn Storm (who also entertained us with the opening of the Community Centre one year ago), delicious snacks, and bubbly flowing, it was a lovely evening of catching up with friends, meeting neighbours and simply enjoying being together.
This is what happens when a community comes together and makes a space truly its own. If the first birthday is anything to go by, our Community Centre has many more good times, great gatherings and happy memories ahead!
The journey to this point was a long one. The Community Centre and Clubhouse was one of the most significant development projects ever undertaken at Kingswood, with construction becoming a familiar sight to residents as the vision gradually took shape. The facility, by way of a special levy, was financed entirely by Kingswood homeowners, making it a truly community-driven investment in the future of the estate.
When the doors opened on 1 September 2025, Kingswood gained far more than a new clubhouse. The state-of-the-art facility brought together La Famiglia restaurant, the golf Pro Shop, golfers’ bar and lounge, halfway house, outdoor patio, children’s play area, and flexible spaces for functions and community events.
Designed to embrace its spectacular natural surroundings, the centre has quickly become a focal point for both residents and golfers.
And what a first year it has been.
From family gatherings and celebrations to events, dinners, community activities and simply meeting friends for a coffee or a meal, the centre has become an integral part of everyday Kingswood life. It has given us a place to connect, celebrate, relax and enjoy being part of this community.

Perhaps that is the greatest achievement of all. A building can be beautifully designed, but it is the people who give it meaning. Happy first birthday to our Community Centre and Clubhouse! Here’s to many more years of bringing Kingswood together. All event photos are by Sanjay Lalwani
Save the Dates
There’s plenty to look forward to at Kingswood. On 10 October at 08:00, we’re launching the very first Kingswood Spring Fun Run/Walk – and we hope it will become an annual Kingswood tradition!
Bloom & Zoom!
Dress in your brightest spring colours, florals or your favourite flower-inspired outfit. Dressing up is optional, but definitely encouraged – and we will have a prize for our best-dressed participant!
Bring a friend, bring the kids and, if your four-legged family member wants to join the fun, bring one dog on a leash. Most importantly, come along for a morning of fresh air, fun and community spirit, while helping us raise funds for PDSA George. Let’s make our first Spring Fun Run one to remember!
Then, on 4 December, we’ll gather on the grass in front of the Community Centre for Carols by Candlelight. Bring your picnic blanket, pack a picnic, and settle in for a festive evening as Carpe Musicam entertains us and leads us in all our favourite Christmas carols. A beautiful way to celebrate the season and enjoy some good old-fashioned Kingswood community spirit!
